Yung Genesis: From Self-Taught Hitmaker to Uplifting Champion of the South

Yung Genesis, born December 24, 1995, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter hailing from Deland, Florida. He gained recognition in 2019 with the release of his album "All or Nothing" and is widely recognized for his hit singles including "Bestie," "Facetime," "Rollout," and more. Yung Genesis grew up in a single-parent household with his mother, grandmother, and uncle after his father left when he was only five years old. Despite excelling academically, Yung Genesis devoted countless hours after school to teach himself how to produce, engineer, and become a world-class hitmaker. He eventually pursued his passion for music independently, building a devoted fan base while studying at the Jacksonville Jobcorps Center, where he landed his biggest break and hit singles "Bestie" and "Throw It Back." Yung Genesis is dedicated to inspiring and uplifting his community, particularly the African-American community, and has personally experienced the difficulties and injustices of growing up as a young black man in the Deep South.
